C51: WRONG CODE GENERATED FOR DOUBLE INDIRECTION

Information in this article applies to:

  • C51 Version 5.50

QUESTION

I have noticed that the compiler produces the same assembly code for the following two lines:

void F(void **f(void)){ f(); }
void F(void  *f(void)){ f(); }

Why?

ANSWER

This is not a compiler problem. The ANSI specification has a requirement for the code generated to be the same.
