C51: COMPILER GENERATES ZERO LENGTH JUMP

Information in this article applies to:

  • C51 Version 7.06

QUESTION

When I compile a C file to a .src, then to .obj, some instructions that should jump over the next instruction end up simply jumping to the current location. Essentially not jumping anywhere at all.

How can I make the compiler jump to the proper location?

ANSWER

This is a problem with early revisions of the Version 7.06 compiler that is corrected in the C51 Version 7.07 update.
