GENERAL: I/O ERROR ON WORK FILE
Information in this article applies to:
While building my application, I receive the following Linker Error:
*** FATAL ERROR L213: I/O ERROR ON WORK FILE: EXCEPTION 0029H: ACCESS TO FILE DENIED
What is the reason for this error?
The Keil development tools create work files in the standard Windows work file folder. The path to the folder is specified by the TEMP environment variable. If you receive this error message, the TEMP folder may not exist or the environment path may be set incorrectly.
You may check the path setting at the command prompt (DOS box) by typing the command SET to list all environment variables.
Under Windows NT/2000/XP, environment variables are configured by My Computer - Properties (opens on right mouse click from the context menu). Then, open Advanced - Environment Variables. Under User Variables, check the setting of the variable TEMP. The path must refer to an existing folder on your computer with full access permissions.
