SWPACK: Opening Pack Gives Error: "Cannot find PDSC file..."

Information in this knowledgebase article applies to:

  • MDK ARM 5.00 or above
  • Software Pack Development

When creating a new pack or modifying an earlier pack, I run gen_pack.bat, and it successfully generates the *.pack file. Normally, when installed, the *.pack loads my device into µVision along with associated information, startup files, available drivers, etc.

However, when opening *.pack, a message appears, "Cannot find PDSC file at root directory of pack archive". I see the pack description file (PDSC), *.pdsc is in the root directory. What is the issue?

Often, another PDSC file is located in a subfolder, deeper in the directory. Rename the file's extension or remove the file in order for gen_pack.bat to perform correctly.
