µVISION: Mbed project outputs Linker error in MDKv5

Information in this knowledgebase article applies to:

  • MDK-ARM Version 5.00 to MDK-ARM Version 5.16
  • µVision Version 5.00 to µVision Version 5.16

I have compiled a project using mbed compiler and exported it to MDK-ARM Version 4.This project compiles successfully in MDK Version 4. However, when this project is migrated to MDK Version 5 and compiled, it results in below linker error:

error: L6002U: Could not open file

The reason is, mbed generated µVision projects contain an excessive list of object files in the Misc Controls of Linker options and at one point µVision cuts off the these object files. This issue has been resolved with MDK-ARM Version 5.17
